Student Security and Safety

It is our mission to provide high quality programs for your children in the safest environment possible and to provide you with peace of mind. Over the past couple of years, media headlines have reminded us that safety and security is now more important than ever.

We are very conscious of the need to provide a safe and secure environment, as well as a safe transportation plan for our students and staff. To accomplish this we have specific and detailed policies and procedures in place that help to ensure safety.

Each school is equipped with an alarm system that is fully monitored for fire and medical emergencies, as well as an intercom system for effective communication. Further, each and every classroom is monitored through observation windows and documented hourly head counts by our Director and Assistant Director. Lastly, we have installed a state of the art "Controlled Access System" on the front door to every Sunbrook Academy.

This "Controlled Access System" limits the entry of individuals other than staff and parents into the school without the Director’s knowledge and permission. Only parents and staff will be given a "code" that will allow their easy access. In addition, as another safety measure, the "code" is changed periodically to ensure the integrity of the safety system. Individuals, other than parents, will need to ring the "doorbell" and gain access through the Director.

Our vehicles are routinely inspected by a licensed service company and by the driver before and after use. All drivers have a valid driver's license, CPR and First Aid training. The vehicles are equipped with a fire extinguisher, first aid kit and cell phone. Emergency medical information for each child and adult and a written check list for entering and exiting the vehicle are maintained for each trip. In addition, a list of the passengers on the vehicle is left at the school for each individual trip. For safe supervision Sunbrook T-shirts and hidden name tags are worn by the children.
